OC Sailing & Events Center

In the mid 1970’s, a group of dedicated individuals and organizations began petitioning the Orange County board of supervisors to build a multi-use public boating facility utilizing State Tideland funds. A consortium was formed to advise the County regarding construction details and operational issues. Ten years later the Dana Point Youth & Group Facility opened on Columbus Day, 1985. The Facility name change in January, 2008, more accurately reflect's the Center's Mission:

"To provide sailing and water based experiences to our community while also hosting social and business events at our harbor location."

Westwind opened in 1987 to work in cooperation with OCSEC and to provide safe boating and sailing education for the general public.

Summer Kid's program Drop-Off Protocol

Do to challenges with parking at OCSEC (Baby Beach), we are implementing a new child 'drop-off' procedure.  We're starting this new process for the week beginning Monday, 7/29/24.

You may begin dropping off your child 25 minutes before the start of your program.  If you have children in programs with different start times, we will allow you to drop off your children 25 minutes before the start of the earliest program.  If you arrive later than 9:10 a.m., please park in a regular space and walk your child into the grounds to find their designated camp.

To drop off your child, please follow these guidelines:

  • Drive into the OCSEC lot at the furthest west entrance (nearest Cove Road).
  • Follow the queue to drop-off or park temporarily (if you have waivers that need to be completed or issues that need to be addressed).
  • While waiting in the queue, please do not block through traffic or individuals trying to park.
  • We will be able to address your questions in the drop-off line.
  • Our camp staff will be on hand to meet and greet your child.  Your child will be escorted to their camp where additional staff are waiting with games and activities.

We will have the drop-off line open every day of your child's camp/class for your convenience.

Children 11 yrs or older are eligible for self-check in/out.  Approval for 'self-check' is located on your online waiver.  After the first day of the program, kids who are 'self-check approved' may be dropped off in the queue or at a location more convenient for you.

We will NOT be staging a queue for pick-up at this time.  For children who are not 'self-check approved', please park and walk into the grounds to pick up your child at their designated camp location.

You are welcome to park in a regular space and drop off your child if you choose.  (Please bring your child to our drop-off location or to their camp if it's later than 9:10 a.m.)

We will not be offering a drop-off queue for classes with an afternoon start time.  Please plan to park and walk your child to their designated area - or be sure to approve them for Self-Check on their waiver so you can drop off at a location of your choosing.
