National Safe Boating Week Activities at Dana Harbor Boat Show

From Friday, June 4 – Sunday, June 6, as part of the 2010 National Safe Boating Week, Friends of Westwind Sailing will be partnering with the California Department of Boating & Waterways to host free educational / interactive sailing rides and Standup Paddle Clinics on the protected waters of Dana Point Harbor’s West Basin.

Learn basic sailboat safety then steer and sail a 14’ Capri with a Westwind Instructor for 30 minutes. Or, learn Standup Paddle safety and techniques then enjoy a 30 minute paddle to practice your newly acquired skills in the harbor. Sail Rides and Paddle Clinics are on a first come - first served basis. Minimum age for sailing: 5 years with an adult, 8 years without an adult. Minimum age for Standup Paddling: 12 years.

Tickets to enter the Boat Show: Friday = $1, Saturday and Sunday: Adult = $12, children under 12 yrs = free with adult. $5 off online ticket purchase.

Free Sailing Rides and SUP Clinics will be offered on these days and times: Friday, June 4, 3 – 6 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
